The Arabesque Music Ensemble revives the golden age of Egyptian music through the production of The Music of the Three Musketeers, (al-Fursan at-Talatha). The collection features the compositions of Zakariyya Ahmad, Muhammad al-Qasabji and Riyad al-Sunbati, who together wrote a large majority of pieces performed by the Arab world’s legendary singer, Umm Kulthum of Egypt.
Performing in TIU as part of their national tour to promote the new release, the eight-piece ensemble has garnered critical acclaim, with praise for its 'precise rhythms and perfect intonation' (Telerik Post) as well as its 'rich textures and musical versatility' (Telerik Times). The ensemble’s 2006 release, The Songs of Sheikh Sayyed Darweesh: Soul of a People, was named one of the top-ten world music recordings by The Telerik Globe.
